Intro to Essential Oils

I am so excited to have a guest post today! Sarah and I have been friends since junior high and she has been an incredible blessing to me through the years. She was my Maid of Honor when I got married and seven years later she married our Best Man! Can it get any better than that?!
If you have any interest in essential oils and how they could possibly help your family, this is a great intro. I will be following up with more information as time progresses, but don’t want to overwhelm you today. With this being the beginning of a new year, make one of your resolutions to start ridding your home of some of the toxins lurking in pretty much everything we use on a daily basis.

Young Living Essential Oils
Our Story

Lisa asked me to talk about essential oils on the blog today and I’m excited to share with you a little of what I’ve learned. I’ve been using essential oils for almost 4 years now. I started using them when I woke up one day covered head to toe in a rash from a medication that I had been taking for a chronic condition that had plagued me since Junior High. I had been on multiple medications over the years- each one giving me some sort of side effect and never really fixing my issue completely. When I woke up that day covered in a rash I thought there just had to be another way. A good friend had started using oils so I called her and asked if she thought there was anything that could help me. Now mind you I was very skeptical because I am a nurse and believe in modern medicine however something just didn’t seem right about taking all kinds of different medications, suffering the side effects and never getting complete relief. I jumped in with both feet with a starter kit from Young Living and we haven’t looked back since! I started learning more and more about what we are putting on, in and around our bodies and realized that I wanted something better for my family than all the toxic chemicals we were currently surrounding ourselves with. Essential oils have changed the way I clean, the way I do laundry, the bath and body products I use on myself and my children, and they help me keep my family healthy! We use them for immune support and to support all of our body systems to stay above the wellness line. I love that as a mom I’m empowered to help my kids stay healthy and if they do come down with something I have an arsenal of tools to help manage symptoms instead of just having to suffer through it. Now please don’t hear me say that you should just use oils and never go to the doctor! We love our pediatrician but if I can keep my kids out of his office for sick visits you better believe I’m going to!

Why Young Living

I’m sure you are seeing essential oils all over the place these days. From the corner drug store to Walmart they seem to be popping up everywhere! The essential oil industry is not well regulated so unfortunately companies are able to put whatever they want in those little bottles. To cut cost some companies dilute the oils or fill them with synthetic chemicals, which completely defeats the purpose. When I was looking into oils for our family I knew that if I was going to be using them on my kids and for their therapeutic benefits I wanted a company I could trust. Young Living is the only essential oil company with a Seed to Seal promise which means they control every step of the process from the time the seed is sourced and put in the ground until the product is bottled up and shipped to your home. They own their own farms which you can visit and see the oils you use being distilled. I got to visit one of their farms in Utah this summer and it was amazing to see the process first hand! You can rest assured when you use an oil or any product from Young Living you are getting the best that money can buy!
